Drum Lessons Medford, Danvers & Lynn

There's nothing like being the driving force behind a musical performance.

Let’s be honest. The drums are one of the ‘coolest’ instruments around. As the owner, they were my personal favorite to play and learn.

The drummer lays the foundation for all types of music, far beyond rock and roll: Every tap of the snare, hit of the bass drum pedal and cymbal crash lead the other instruments where they need to go. Faster or slower. Louder or quieter.

At LB Music School, we help teens and adults of all skill levels learn the drums their way. We use noise reduction equipment and teaching that makes taking drums lessons more fun and less noisy for those at home.

Why Choose Drum Lessons at LB Music School

When playing solo or in private, the drums can be a tremendous source of stress relief — a healthy outlet for the daily frustrations and anxieties we all feel as teens or adults.

There is nothing better than coming how from work or school and banging on the drums at the end of a long day.

And if you ever get the chance to play drums in a band (some of our drum students have played in our band program), it’s a heck of a lot of fun!

What sets apart LB Music School is that we are 100% focused on teaching and learning the drums as a fun, creative experience inspired by you.

Want to learn alternative or classic rock? We teach that.

Is R&B more your style? We've got you covered.

Whether your passion is for jazz or pop, for jamming alone or in a band, whether you're just starting out or need a refresher on technique, we build drum lessons for teens and adults around your goals and lifestyle.

I took drum lessons years ago when I was working, and it was a great stress relief for me. And it’s actually one of my favorite instruments. Even though I teach guitar, drums is my favorite instrument to play still.
— Lauren Bateman. Founder and Owner, LB Music School

How We Teach Drum Lessons

No strict curriculum or rigid teaching here: We offer drum instruction to students ages 7 and older in all musical styles including pop, rock, blues, jazz, R&B, country, folk and funk.

Whatever style you want to learn, we'll pair you with the best teacher to meet your needs.

Beginners are welcome at LB Music School.

We teach everyone, from true beginners to more advanced students who have been playing for years and want to take their skills to the next level. Our patient teachers will work with you to create a lesson plan that fits your learning needs. We want you to feel confident in your abilities and enjoy the learning process!

Learning the Drums Without the Noise

Chances are, we all imagine a similar cliché about learning the drums: One person is happily banging away while family members or neighbors struggle to carry on as normal. The truth about modern equipment and lessons is that you can learn the drums without excessive noise and disruption to those around you.

With the help of noise-reducing surface coverings, special drumheads, sticks and cymbals, electronic drum kits and through improving technique and control, LB Music School will work with you to find the best tools and skills for learning and practicing the drums in your own space.

Our Philosophy

Do you remember (or have) a favorite teacher? Having someone that understands, motivates and inspires you can make all the difference in your musical journey. Our drum instructors in Lynn and Medford know that everyone learns in their own way, at their own pace and in the context of their daily life. We pride ourselves on:

  • Motivating you toward steady progress and reaching your goals

  • Patiently answering questions and solving problems

  • Finding songs you enjoy to play that also improve your skills

  • Providing fun opportunities to learn and play with others

  • Preparing you for live performances — if and when you're interested

Join the LB Music School Community

At LB Music School of Medford, Danvers and Lynn, we offer an experience that goes far beyond drum lessons. We know that for some, the most effective learning comes through complementing our instruction with one-on-one interaction among peers. Sharing experiences, or creating friendships, with a fellow drummer or student learning guitar, violin or piano can unlock all kinds of unforeseen potential and creativity.

We always encourage performances, but they are completely optional. If at any point you would like to participate in a live showcase, or attend as a guest, we're happy to arrange that opportunity.
