FAQ about Guitar Lessons for Kids

How old does my child have to be to take guitar lessons?

We recommend that kids begin guitar lessons around the age of 7 or 8.

The reason?

It can be very hard for young finger to press the strings to make enough sound. We find most students have the proper strength and ability between the ages of 7 and 8.

If you have a younger child that REALLY wants to play a stringed instrument, we highly recommend starting at a younger age (5 or 6) with ukulele lessons.

 

Do I need to own a guitar to take lessons?
My child is left handed. Can they still take guitar lessons?
